Elsie Law's Daily Dose Of The Law

With the passage of The Patriot Act and Warrantless Wiretapping Laws, our privacy has been infringed upon and our civil liberties have been stripped.

Black's Law Dictionary defines civil liberties as: "Personal, natural rights guaranteed and protected by the Constitution; e.g. freedom of speech, press, freedom of discrimination, etc. The body of law dealing with natural liberties, shorn of excesses which invade equal rights of others. Constitutionally, they are restraints on government."
