According to The Gothamist, a NYPD police sergeant was recently " suspended from the force and arrested on charges of of criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, and prohibited use of a weapon" after allegedly shooting up an ATM machine in a drunken rage. The sergeant reportedly fired at the machine after carousing several bars, and attending a retirement party with the police commissioner.
The main irony of this situation is that the sergeant received a greater punishment for shooting an inanimate object than most police officers get for killing, shooting, or otherwise attacking unarmed human beings.
