Elsie Law's Daily Dose Of The Law

Jane M. Bolin, a New York native, was the first African American female judge. She was also the first Black graduate of Williams College to practice law in Poughkeepsie, and the first Black woman to attend Yale Law School.

She was appointed to the bench in 1939, and served for ten years.
