Elsie Law's Daily Dose Of The Law: Rogatory Letters Defined

The letter of the law states that rogatory letters are: "A formal communication from a court in which an action is pending, to a foreign court, requesting that the testimony of a witness residing in such foreign jurisdiction be taken under the direction of the court addressed and transmitted to the court making the request." These letters are used in international, as well as interstate, situations.
