New York's government officials are reportedly trying to woo internet corporation, Yahoo Inc., into creating a $100 million data center within the confines of the state. The data center, which could possibly be located in Buffalo, New York; would mainly be a warehouse for the company's computer systems.
Although opening the data center will allegedly provide only a miniscule number of jobs, New York politicians say that luring the company to set up shop in the state could help boost the economy in peripheral ways.
News outlets are reporting that New York is trying to bait Yahoo by offering the corporation large discounts on the high cost of power & electricity that it will take to run the center.
[SIDEBAR: Corporate welfare seems to out-pace "regular" welfare on any given day.]
