Elsie Law's Daily Dose Of The Law: Universal Electronics (UEI) vs. Apple

Apple is currently engaged in a lawsuit with Universal Electronics (UEI). UEI alleges that Apple's: Apple TV, Airport Express, and Apple Macintosh PCs has infringed on their patents.

According to Information Week, UEI states that Apple hired three of their former employees who had access to their valuable patents. Within a year of the employees' hiring, Apple debuted Apple TV- which uses technology which UEI professes infringes on their inventions.

Lawsuits involving patent and copyright infringement between ex-employees and their new employers are beginning to proliferate. This same issue is currently being addressed in the Barbie and Bratz lawsuit.
