State lawmakers in New York are attempting to pass legislation that will allow for the DNA of SUSPECTED criminals to be collected upon arrest. Under the proposed legislation, a conviction will not be necessary for an arrestee to have their DNA taken.[Updated SIDEBAR: In a city where over 500,000 people are stopped & frisked annually- a majority of whom are innocent of committing any crime- I can only imagine how a law like this can be abused if implemented.]
