Percy Julian, who was born on April 11, 1899, contributed a lot of important inventions to society. He is most noted for inventing a treatment for rheumatoid arthritis by synthesizing cortisone from soy beans. Percy Julian also invented: A treatment for glaucoma, and a fire-extinguishing foam for gas and oil fires.
