Sunday's Op-Ed

I challenge you to examine your life, and scroll through your mental rolodex. Think about whether or not there are family members, friends, or acquaintances that you have been taking for granted lately. If so, make sure you cash in that "Thank You I.O.U." As expeditiously as possible.

Often people who deserve our gratitude the most are overlooked. This is because people who sincerely have our best interests at heart don't request return favors, and aren't boisterous about their care. I know it's often said that, "A closed mouth doesn't get fed." However, it is imperative that we seek out that stoically "closed mouth," and give it the food that it deserves. It's only right, and it's good for our karma.

I can't count the number of times that I've observed people who would bend over backwards for someone who would stab them in their back, front, or any armorless spot in a heartbeat; refuse to even slightly inconvenience themselves for someone who would gladly make ultimately sacrifices for them. How foul is that? As a matter of fact, that is the definition of foul. Aim to leave your face out of the dictionary next to the definition of "foul flat-leaver."

Let's show gratitude to those who deserve it. A good place to start would be with those who came before us and paved the way for us to have improved quality of lives. Let's also not neglect the people who walk the earth and radiate kindness- despite it all.

Saying "Thank You" is always a great start. However, remember that actions speak louder than words. Let's live and act our gratefulness every day.
