Lockdown America Part 1

Last week, the Pew Foundation released a report regarding their findings on the rate of incarceration in America. According to the report, the U.S. incarceration rate is at an all time high. The numbers are staggering. The statistics are as follows:
  • At the start of 2008, 2.32 million adults were in prison.
  • 1 out of every 99 adults are currently incarcerated.
  • 1 out of 30 men between the ages of 20 and 34 are in prison.
  • 1 out of 9 Black men between the ages of 20 and 34 are incarcerated.
  • 1 out of 15 Hispanic men between the ages of 20 and 34 are incarcerated.
