Elsie Law's Daily Dose Of The Law

The mother of a teenage son who was beaten to death while he was incarcerated at Rikers Island has brought a lawsuit against the New York City Department of Correction.

When this tragedy first hit the media several months ago, news sources revealed that the 18-year old was allegedly killed by fellow inmates who were encouraged by correction officers to beat the young man.

The prosecutors assigned to this recently filed lawsuit claim that at least three correction officers created a "Lord Of The Flies"-like gang to enforce a twisted form of discipline at the adolescent prison.
