Elsie Law's Daily Dose Of The Law

Voir Dire is a french term that literally means, "to speak the truth." This term is also used in the American legal system as "a phrase that denotes the preliminary examination which the court may make of one presented as a witness or juror, where his competency, interest, etc., is objected to." [Definition quoted from Black's Law Dictionary.]
