Elsie Law's Daily Dose Of The Law

The case involving contaminated milk that caused 6 deaths and kidney illness in over 300,000 children in China, has come to trial in that country.

According to The New York Times, "[Tian Wenhua], the former chairwoman of one of China's biggest dairy producers pleaded guilty on Wednesday to selling tainted powdered baby formula."

Wenhua allegedly admitted that she knew the milk her company was selling was toxic as early as May 2008. However, she failed to report that information until August 2008.

For knowingly selling the contaminated milk, Tian Wenhua could receive a death sentence or life imprisonment.
