Today's Fly Or Die Commerce Report: Wal Mart Seeks To Expand Into Chile

Wal Mart is in negotiations to purchase a majority share in D&S, Chile's largest grocery store chain. D&S is a highly profitable retailer. According to the Wall Street Journal, the retailer "posted a $106 million profit in its last fiscal year, a 23.7% increase from the year before." In addition to having 140 stores, D&S assets also include a credit card business.

Wal Mart has also reportedly successfully purchased established retailers in China, Brazil, and Japan.
