Invention Spotlight: Scientists Create A Substance That Heals In The Sun

Scientists have combined some interesting materials to create a substance that heals when it is exposed to sunlight. The substance, which can be used as a coating, reconfigures itself when scratched if it is exposed to the sun's ultraviolet rays. According to The BBC, it takes approximately 30 minutes of sun exposure for the innovative coating to completely heal itself.

Chitosan- which comes from shells of crustaceans, and polyurethane- a popular varnish, are part of the ingredients that make up the unique substance.

Car manufacturers are said to be excited about the implications of the new invention. Imagine perpetually having a scratchless paint job on your vehicle.
