Ron Brown, who was the first African-American Secretary of Commerce for the United States, spent a lot of his childhood at the famed Harlem hotel, the Hotel Teresa. Brown's father was the manager of the hotel, and their family lived there for many years. Due to his presence at the Hotel Teresa, Ron Brown crossed paths with many dignitaries, politicians, and celebrities at an early age. This was a foreshadowing, and early training for things to come in the young man's future career.
