How Is Online Social Networking Effecting Us Mentally?

In a study conducted by Oxford University concerning the effects of online social networking, scientists found that continued use of sites like Twitter, Facebook & MySpace could lead to: Shorter attention spans, self-centeredness, and a craving for instant gratification.

Neuroscientists and psychologists are frightened that social networking sites could do a lot of damage. Scientists have stated that continued use of these sites could rewire the brain, and lead to mental and psychological infantilization.

There is no doubt that use of these sites can be a great networking tool, but a huge distraction. Try to monitor your use of them. Also try using these sites during a designated time that fits into your schedule, and doesn't interrupt your priorities. Man should control the machine; the machine shouldn't control man.
