Elsie Law's Daily Dose Of The Law

Last month, California's Attorney General's office won a lawsuit which requires H & R block to pay-out $4.85 million. The settlement was due to an allegation that H & R Block dishonestly advertised their tax refund loans.

While H & R Block has denied any wrong doing- despite the mandated multi-million dollar payout- they have agreed to amend their advertising practices.

As part of the settlement H & R Block is banned from marketing high-interest loans as early tax refunds in the state of California. In addition to this, the tax company is required to offer their clients full disclosure of their loans and products.
